02What does the clean include?
A free carbon monoxide test, then the heater fan, motor and unit cleaned, the return air grille and box cleaned, every vent cover removed and cleaned, and the ducts cleaned with an air hose and vacuum. We spray tea tree oil into the return air to finish, and you get before and after photos. Gas fitting and repairs are not included.
03How long does it take?
Most jobs take 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the size of the home and how many ducts you have. We give you a proper time estimate upfront.
04How often should ducted heating be cleaned?
Every 1 to 2 years for most Melbourne homes. Homes with pets, young kids or anyone with allergies are better at the shorter end. Our guide on how often goes through it.
05Do you check for carbon monoxide leaks?
Yes. Every gas ducted heating clean comes with a free carbon monoxide test. CO has no colour and no smell, so a test is the only way to know. If the test shows a problem we tell you straight away, and the repair is done by a licensed gas technician.
06Why does my heater smell burning the first time I turn it on?
Dust settles inside the unit and the ducts over summer, and the first cold night pushes it through the hot heater and out of every vent. A clean takes that dust out so the smell does not come back each winter.
07When is the best time to book?
Just before winter, so the system is clean and tested when it works hardest, or straight after winter to clear what built up over the season. Both are quieter times, so bookings are quicker.
08Is it safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use safe, non-toxic cleaning methods and natural tea tree oil for the sanitising, with no harsh chemicals left behind.
09Can cleaning help with allergies or asthma?
Cleaning removes the dust, pollen, mould and bacteria that build up in the system and get blown round the house when the heating is on. That is what sets off sneezing and itchy eyes in a lot of homes.
10Cleaning or a gas service, which one do I need?
Dust, a burning smell, weak airflow or a system that has not been cleaned in a couple of years is a clean. If the heater will not light or shows an error code, you need a gas fitter, and we will tell you straight which one it is.
